Day 1
Arrive Srinagar · flowers on the water
Airport pick-up and a private transfer to your deluxe houseboat suite — flower-bed turndown and a cake waiting. Evening shikara, just the two of you, out to the far side of the lake.

Mughal gardens · dinner on deck
Shalimar Bagh, built by an emperor for his wife, and Nishat with the lake below it. Back on board for a candle-lit dinner on the deck, cooked to order by the houseboat kitchen.

Gulmarg · snow at 3,000 m
Up to Gulmarg for the gondola and, in season, your first snow together. Sledging, a walk along the treeline, and hot noon chai in the meadow.

Pahalgam · the Betaab photoshoot
Down to Pahalgam through Pampore's saffron fields. A couple photoshoot in Betaab Valley with the Lidder behind you — the pictures everyone brings home from Kashmir.

Day 5
Aru Valley · a day with nothing in it
Aru Valley in the morning, then deliberately nothing. Walk the river, find a chai stall, let the afternoon go.

Srinagar · Pari Mahal at sunset
Back to Srinagar. The dawn floating vegetable market if you can wake for it, the old city crafts, and Pari Mahal for the last sunset over the lake.

Departure
A slow breakfast on the water, then the airport.

Best time for a Kashmir honeymoon
April to June and September to October for warmth and colour; December to February if you want snow at the window. Month by month, honestly:
April and May — tulips first, then the first proper green. The Tulip Garden opens for three or four weeks and the valley is at its most photographed. Rates are at their highest and so are the crowds.
June — the meadows at their best and everything open, including Sonamarg and the high roads. The most reliable weather of the year, and our pick if you want to see the most.
July and August — warm, occasionally wet, and the cheapest of the warm months. Fine if an afternoon shower does not bother you.
September and October — our own favourite. The clearest light of the year, the chinars turning, thinner crowds and lower rates than spring. If you have no reason to prefer another month, come now.
November — quiet and cold, the leaves down, most things still open. Underrated if you want the valley close to yourselves.
December to February — snow at the window. Gulmarg becomes a genuine ski resort and Dal freezes at its edges. Sonamarg and the high passes close, so the itinerary shortens and the trip becomes about two or three places done slowly.
March — the in-between month. Almond blossom at Badamwari, but the tulips have not opened and the snow is going. We would rather you came in April, and we will say so.

This 7-day honeymoon itinerary starts at ₹14,999 per person in three-star hotels — ₹29,998 for the two of you. Final pricing depends on your month, the houseboat and hotel category, and how much of the trip you want made private.
Not the whole boat, and you should know that before you book rather than after you arrive. At the three-star tier you have your own bedroom with its own bathroom and a door that locks, on a boat that usually carries three or four other rooms. Other guests may be aboard, and the deck and dining room are shared — though in practice these boats are quiet and most couples barely see anyone. What is genuinely yours alone is the candle-lit dinner, which we set on the deck at a time when nobody else is using it, and the sunset shikara, which is your boat and nobody else’s. If you want the entire houseboat to yourselves, that can be arranged — ask at enquiry and we will price it, because it costs meaningfully more and we would rather quote it than surprise you.
Yes, both, on request — tell us when you book rather than on the day. Flower decoration in the room for your arrival, and a cake on whichever evening you choose. There is a small cost for each and it goes in your quote as a line you can see, rather than being folded into the headline price and called free. If you would rather skip both, say so; a good number of couples do.
It is one of the few places in India where snow, lakes, gardens and genuine quiet sit within a two-hour drive of each other — which is why it has been an Indian honeymoon destination for generations.
