Day 1
Arrive Srinagar
Airport pick-up, a night on the Boulevard, and a proper kit briefing for the days ahead.

Day 2
Srinagar to Gurez over the Razdan Pass
North through Bandipora and up over the Razdan Pass (3,300 m). Down into Gurez, the Kishanganga alongside, with Habba Khatoon's pyramid peak standing over the valley. Homestay night in Dawar.

Day 3
Gurez · Tulail valley
Deeper up the Tulail road — log villages, wooden mosques and the river the whole way. Walks between hamlets and a lot of tea with people who live there.

Gurez · river days
Kishanganga riverside walks, the old wooden bridges, and Habba Khatoon peak in the evening light. Second homestay night.

Day 5
Gurez to Doodhpathri
Back over the pass and southwest to Doodhpathri — the valley of milk, silken meadows and shallow streams that almost nobody outside Kashmir has heard of.

Doodhpathri · Tousa Maidan
Up to the higher meadows and the forest edge above Tousa Maidan. Easy walking, big country, no crowds.

Aru Valley · village trek
East to Aru above Pahalgam for a day trek out of the village and back — the classic gateway walk into the Lidderwat side of the valley.

Aru to Srinagar · departure
Down the Lidder to Srinagar and on to the airport.

Best time for the Gurez valley
Late May to early October only — the Razdan Pass is snowbound and closed the rest of the year.

Indian nationals need a simple inner-line permit for Gurez, which we arrange — just send a scan of your ID when you book. Foreign nationals should carry their passport and register where required.
Roughly late May to early October. The Razdan Pass is under snow the rest of the year and the valley is effectively cut off, which is exactly why it stays as it is.
Moderate. The walking is optional and mostly gentle, but the drives are long and high, the accommodation in Gurez is homestay-simple rather than hotel-comfortable, and mobile signal is patchy to absent.
