Kashmir from Hyderabad
Hyderabad gets direct flights to Srinagar in some seasons and not in others, which makes it the city we most often have to un-plan for people. If you have found a direct on your dates, take it. If you have not, do not keep hunting — a well-chosen morning connection through Delhi is a better trip than a badly-timed direct, and there is usually no direct to find.
What does not change is the cost of the holiday itself. Our land package is priced in Srinagar and is identical whether you fly from Hyderabad, Delhi or anywhere else. Only the airfare moves, by roughly a factor of two against Delhi.
Getting the routing right
Check directs for your dates only
Seasonal services are announced and withdrawn quietly. What flew last April may not fly this one. Search your actual dates rather than trusting a route map or an older blog post.
One ticket, not two
Book Hyderabad–Delhi–Srinagar as a single itinerary where you can. On a self-transfer booking, a delay on the first leg is entirely your problem and your money.
Morning arrivals earn a day
Land in Srinagar before lunch and the afternoon is yours — gardens, the old city, a shikara at dusk. Land at seven in the evening and you have paid for a day you spent in a car.
Winter fog at Delhi
December and January mornings at Delhi can run badly late. If you are connecting in that window, give yourself three hours rather than ninety minutes, and keep the return day flexible.
How long, and when
Six nights is the target and five the floor. With a connection at each end, a four-night trip spends more of itself in transit than in the valley, which is a poor return on a fare that size. If your leave is genuinely fixed at five nights, we would cut a destination rather than cut the time at each one.
On timing: April and May bring the tulips and the first proper green, June the meadows at their best, September and October the clearest light of the year and the chinars turning. Many Hyderabad families travel in the summer school break, which is both the busiest and the most expensive window — September is the quiet alternative and, to our eyes, the better month. January is for people who specifically want snow, and it is worth wanting.
Adding Vaishno Devi
This comes up often enough from Hyderabad to be worth its own paragraph. Fly into Jammu instead of Srinagar, do the darshan at Katra, then take the Vande Bharat into the valley over the Chenab bridge — about three hours and ten minutes on a line that only opened in June 2025.
